DESCRIPTION
In a relaxed way this tour enables you to discover Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site its monuments and history.
In the surroundings we visit the the village of Arraiolos, known for the manufacture of its amazing rugs whose origin dates back to the 15th Century.
Arriving at Évora, we discover the city through a walking tour around the main monuments representing its more remarkable historic periods: the Roman, the Arab, the Medieval Age, the Renaissance, and Age of Romanticism.
During the Renaissance, Évora experienced an impetus to build palaces, convents, churches, chapels and colleges, which coincided with the presence of the Royal Family and the Court in the city, which became the second capital of the Kingdom for long periods of time.
We visit the Roman Temple and Baths, the Gothic Cathedral, the Church of San Francisco and its Chapel of Bones, the Giraldo Square, King Manuel's Palace and the Mudejar styled St. Brás Chapel.
A few kilometers away from Évora lies the beautiful village of Arraiolos where for several centuries, the famous carpets that bear the same name have been produced. In Arraiolos we visit the medieval castle or the Museum of the Arraiolos Carpet, which tells us the history of this famous carpet, which dates back to the 16th Century.
We return to Lisbon, leaving behind the peaceful village of Arraiolos.
