Extra Activity - CABLE CAR RIDE BY THE SEA & SIGHTSEEING OF NATIONS PARK - 2 Hours
In 1998, the last World Exhibition of the 20th century was held in Lisbon. For this, a mega urban rehabilitation operation was carried out in the eastern part of Lisbon, a degraded space where were located the main refineries of the capital, polluting industries and a cemetery of military vehicles.
The exhibition was built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Portuguese Discoveries, lasted 132 days and was attended by 11 million visitors.
After the exhibition the site was named Parque das Nações, later a new quarter of Lisbon where in addition to the various buildings of Expo'98 that remained, was built a new urban fabric based on the modernity of its architecture.
The main attractions of Parque das Nações are the Oceanarium, the Knowledge Pavilion, the Portugal Pavilion, the Gare do Oriente, the Cable Car, etc.
